Trout fishing opportunities abound now that we are out of level 3. It has been a tough Autumn for a lot of Kiwis being locked at home due to Covid19. On the positive side the trout fishing at present is very good and should remain so for many months to come.
The reasons for this are twofold. 1/ We have had no significant rain for several months, i.e. a very dry summer and autumn which has meant no damaging floods to deplete the trout population. The fact is, trout numbers are superb. 2/ Covid19 has allowed waters to be rested which means early spawners entering the rivers have had a rest from angling pressure. They are now putting on condition for the big runs that are to come. There are some very good fish in the rivers at time of writing and I am picking they will be there for the remainder of the year. Book in now for a truly unforgettable experience this winter or spring. You owe it to yourselves to unwind a bit after this stressful time that we have all been through.
