Q: What sort of fish can I catch in Lake Taupo?
A: Taupo is a world-class location to catch large rainbow and brown trout.

Q: Do I need a fishing licence to go on a guided trip?
A: A fishing licence is required for fishing in the local rivers. These can be purchased from any sports store in the region for around $20 per day. Sea fishing does not require a licence.

Q: Will lunch be provided for me?
A: Yes, a picnic lunch is provided at no extra charge.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Suitable footwear and clothing, a hat and sunscreen if it's warm and a waterproof jacket if rain is a possibility. The weather can be changeable, so even in the summer it is a good idea to have some warm clothing with you.

Q: Is transport provided for me?
A: Yes it is. I will pick you up from your accommodation. Alternatively, you can stay at our home the night before our trip and we will leave from there.

Q: Are there limits on the size and number of fish I can catch?
A: Yes, limits apply in all NZ fisheries, and these vary depending on the location. Fish must also meet minimum size standards before they can be kept, which differs depending on type of fish.

Q: Can I keep the fish I catch?
A: Whilst I encourage the catch and release of all fish, you may keep your fish if you wish. I can fillet and vacuum pack the fish for you or it can be cooked for dinner if you are staying with us that evening.

Q: What tackle is provided?
A: Everything you need to catch fish (rod, reel, bait, line, flies, net etc)

Q: What days of the week can we go fishing?
A: I am available 7 days a week by appointment

Q: Are the fishing trips physically demanding?
A: It really depends on where we go. Some spots are in rugged country or involve some walking. However, there are plenty of spots that can be reached without any physical exertion.
